Please explain why...

So, I am in my office after a long day of clinical supervision and seeing clients with the last client out the door, when that last client calls me on the phone. He says: Well, just like I have had happen to me several times before, someone has blocked in my van and don't have enough room to let down the ramp so I can get in and drive home.

See, this person has had a very hard life. His mother took medicine for nausea when he was in utero which left him with birth defects. He has struggled his entire life walking on crutches until he suffered a torn rotator cuff in his good shoulder from over use, and is now confined to a scooter. He is working diligently through his issues and is making every effort to improve his attitude toward the way he has been treated his entire life. And now he has to call me, his therapist/coach to come and move his van because a Fox News SUV has blocked him in. And not only has the van blocked him in, but it has illegally parked on the ramp, along with another vehicle, making the use of the ramp extraordinarily difficult. He left the office feeling better, only to be faced with the same trials and tribulations he had when he arrived.

Why do people feel as if they are above the law? And why do people show little to no concern for those with disabilities? The ramp is placed where it is for a reason - and he parked the way he did for a reason - and yet this Fox News SUV driver apparently feels no concern for anything other than following the baseball game next door. Had I not been in the office, the man in the scooter would have had to find someone (a stranger) to get into his van and move it out so that he would be able to lower the ramp in his van, get in and drive home. Wow...what a sad world we live in...
