Personal:

In 1989, I was in a head-on collision with a vehicle much bigger than mine. The engine found a new home in my lap and crushed me from the waist down. I had broken bones in my left foot, a ruptured Achilles tendon, deep knee lacerations of the left knee, both femurs crushed (and eventually held together by rods and screws), a fractured pelvis and eventually an above-the-knee amputee on the right side. Inclusively, I also had a stroke (or fatty embolism - the doctors were never quite sure), which left me paralyzed on the right side. I was told I may never walk again. And yet, here I am - educated and the proud owner of a small business. I am living proof that you can rise above and get to where you want to be.

But please remember - I did not do this on my own. I had help - a lot of help - along the way. Don't let life's challenges stand in the way of your dreams and goals. You know where you want to go - let me help you get there.

Professional:

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a B.S in Human Nutrition, an M.Ed. in Counseling and Development (both from Winthrop University) and a doctorate in Holistic Nutrition. I have been licensed since the year 2000 and have worked in a variety of positions since that time, to include community mental health, therapeutic foster care, and teaching on a college campus. For the last 10 years or so, I have worked in senior management roles for both the state and in the corporate world. Currently, I work at Greenville Technical College as an Instructor, Advisor and Pathway Navigator (Career Facilitator). I am the first female above-the-knee amputee hired by Walgreens in a management role in the distribution center in both Williamston, S.C. and Windsor, CT. I am also the first above-the-knee amputee female hired as a director of a community mental health clinic in South Carolina. Currently, I am the Ethics Chair for the South Carolina Counseling Association.

The Bravo Institute is the Center for Continuing Education for the Upstate. As we grow and develop, more presenters will be added, covering and meeting the needs of Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisors, Social Workers and other disciplines. The Bravo Institute has been sanctioned by the state of South Carolina LLR as a permanent CE provider. Camilla Bravo is also an ACEP (Approved Continued Education Provider) approved and sanctioned by NBCC.

Mission Statement:

The Bravo Institute offers services based on maintaining a continuum of care – educate, empower, maintain and sustain.
